How To Use An Egg Cup
The Easter egg symbolises birth and new life, so we thought it would be great to breathe some new life into the traditional egg cup, and compile some clever alternative uses for this kitchen staple.
Instead of eating that boiled egg, try doing some Easter DIY with these unconventional egg cup ideas...
1. Grow herbs
Make a little herb garden using egg cups – these are small enough to make cute planters and they'll look great adorning a breakfast or dinner table.

2. Candle holder
Perfectly sized to make pretty tealight holders, an egg cup candle ornament will add a hygge charm to your interiors. For an added touch, you could even place an empty egg shell inside to frame the candle.

3. Planter
Just as with the herbs, egg cups can be used as planters for small plants, such as succulents. Choose interesting and decorative cups for added charm.

4. Ring holder
While you wash the dishes or do some spring cleaning, it's a good idea to take your rings off to prevent them from getting scratched, or worse, lost. This is where the egg cup comes in. It can be used as a ring holder while you get on with the household jobs. This way, your rings won't end up down the plug hole!
5. Ornamental flower holder
Egg cups can make lovely, and unusual, flower holders for the table. It's a charming way of displaying flowers and on-trend with bringing the outside in.

6. Cake stand
This has to be one of the most innovative ways to use an egg cup. Glue a cup between a larger plate and a smaller one, and there you have it, a cake stand! You can make the cake stand just two tiers or more, all you have to do is use more egg cups.

7. Pin cushion
Place a little plump cushion into an egg cup and you have a pin cushion. Using bright coloured fabric will add some vibrancy.

8. Alternative food holders
Who said eggs have the monopoly on egg cups? You can also eat other oval-shaped foods from egg cup holders, such as kiwi fruits.

9. Dip holder
And speaking of food, egg cups can also make great dip holders. Dot a couple around the living room when the family are watching their favourite TV show with a big bag of crisps in circulation.
10. Ink or paint pot
For creative types, the egg cup can also pose as a fantastic ink or paint holder. Fill it up, and dip your pen or paint brush into it to your heart's content.
